Joining Hands
Against Hunger,
Tacoma International Consultation, 2004
The first JHAH
International Consultation was held July 29-August 2, in Tacoma,
Washington. Those attending were members of the JHAH networks
and each of their presbytery partners, Companionship Facilitators,
Keynote speakers, workshop and seminar leaders and staff members from
the Presbyterian Hunger Program and Worldwide Ministries Division. For
four days, the participants
learned together, ate together, sang and danced together, socialized
together, prayed together and worshipped together. Workshop and
seminar topics covered a range of topics including grassroots and
global advocacy, fair trade and globalization. Keynote speakers were
Eleazar Fernadez, professor of constructive theology at the United
Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities (MN) and Anhurada Mittal,
founder and executive director of a new policy think-tank, The Oakland
Institute (CA).
